Blood of Mother Earth - Fact: this painting had been completed during May of 1991 along with several other inspirational paintings during the year. During the process of this unusual creation two very relevant things are responsible for its spiritual intervention: One - Although the initial composition did not come immediately I continued straddling the living room coffee table while executing my favorite palatte knife. Since its inception, this painting has never been shown or exhibited anywhere, except in my apartment; Two - All during this time, however, I have had many visitors remark on how its spirituality seemed to capture, and hold their undivided attention. My answer to their comments was always the same: The rig became my symbol for those who take the earth for granted, abusing it by tapping the earth of its rarest of commodities: Oil! I wanted to name it "Power Blood," or "The Raping of Mother Earth," but thought the above name would be more positive - less provoking. |
